A Spiritual Experience in Africa - Chicken and Lollypop Delivery to Putti - - On our first visit to Putti in May 2011, we offered to do for the community as, because they did not know how to do kosher slaughter, they had not eaten meat for many years. However their excitement quickly turned to sadness and embarassment. Why? Because they were too poor to buy chickens, subsisting mainly on vegetables they grow for themselves. So we purchased 10 chickens and performed the sh'hita for them. (Since that first visit we trained shohatim from within the community so at least that part of the problem has been solved.) - - I brought the lollypops for the children from Israel. They were almost as big a hit as the chickens.

Chicken and Lollypop Delivery to Putti

On our first visit to Putti in May 2011, we offered to do sh'hita for the community as, because they did not know how to do kosher slaughter, they had not eaten meat for many years. However their excitement quickly turned to sadness and embarassment. Why? Because they were too poor to buy chickens, subsisting mainly on vegetables they grow for themselves. So we purchased 10 chickens and performed the sh'hita for them. (Since that first visit we trained shohatim from within the community so at least that part of the problem has been solved.)

I brought the lollypops for the children from Israel. They were almost as big a hit as the chickens.
